How the SBA loan calculator works

This calculator uses the standard amortizing-loan formula. For a fixed-rate loan of P dollars at monthly rate r over n payments, the monthly payment is P · r · (1 + r)^n / ((1 + r)^n − 1). Total interest is the sum of all payments minus the original loan amount.

Real SBA loans include a guaranty fee (typically 0%–3.75% of the guaranteed portion, depending on loan size), lender packaging or origination fees, and closing costs. Those aren't modeled here — they'd raise the true cost slightly above the estimate.

SBA loan calculator — questions, answered

How is an SBA loan payment calculated?

SBA 7(a) and 504 loans are amortizing loans. Monthly payment = P × r × (1 + r)^n / ((1 + r)^n − 1), where P is the loan amount, r is the monthly interest rate (annual rate ÷ 12), and n is the number of monthly payments. This calculator uses that formula for a fixed-rate estimate.

What interest rate should I use for an SBA 7(a) loan?

SBA 7(a) rates are typically the Prime Rate plus a lender spread of roughly 2.25%–4.75%, depending on loan size and term. Rates can be fixed or variable. Use a current Prime Rate estimate and add a spread appropriate for your loan size and term.

What terms are typical for SBA loans?

SBA 7(a) working-capital loans are commonly 10 years. Equipment loans can go up to 10 years. Real-estate SBA 7(a) or 504 loans can go up to 25 years. Longer terms lower the monthly payment but increase total interest paid.

Does this calculator include SBA fees?

No. This is a payment-and-interest estimate only. SBA guaranty fees, packaging fees, and closing costs vary by lender and loan size and are not included in the amortization above.

Is this a loan offer?

No. BizKred is a financing broker, not a lender. This tool is for estimation only. Actual rates, terms, fees, and eligibility are determined by third-party lenders based on your business profile.
